Grain Sorghum

Grain for Food & Feed

Grain sorghum can take many shapes and sizes from a tight-headed, round panicle to an open panicle that can be short or tall. There are various types of sorghum including red, orange, bronze, tan, white, and black colored sorghum.

Bitter (Tanin)

Bitter sorghum is planted in areas where birds are a problem. This type of sorghum contains tannin, which gives a bitter taste. Consequently, birds tend to avoid eating it.

Certain grain sorghum hybrids can be used as brewing raw materials for malt production.
